C'ovjek koji je spasio hrvatsku ljevicu

Tada je takodjer bilo upitno što c'e biti i s Ivicom Rac'anom i s SDP-ovom prethodnicom, koja je starome i mnogima omrznutome imenu – SKH, dodala i: Stranka demokratskih promjena.

U to su vrijeme i Ivica Rac'an i njegov SKH-Stranka demokratskih promjena bili na prekretnici: SKH da se iz komunističke partije koja je desetljec'ima monopolizirala cijelu zbilju prometne u demokratsku stranku, a Rac'an od “vojnika Partije” u njezina revizionista i buduc'eg socijaldemokrata.

Da ta osobna i zajednic'ka preobrazba nisu uspjele, SKH bi tada završio na “smetištu historije”, a njegova bi se predsjednika Rac'ana malo tko više i sjec'ao, niti se zanimao za njegovu bolest, niti se pitao “što c'e biti nakon Rac'ana”.

Komunistic'ka hipoteka
C'injenica da je Ivica Rac'an bio dugogodišnji pripadnik republic'ke pa i savezne komunistic'ke nomenklature ujedno mu je bila i trajna zamjerka. Pogotovu nakon stvaranja Hrvatske. Zadrti su sve bivše komuniste trpali u istu vrec'u. Pa i Rac'ana. Spoc'itavalo mu se da je poslije sloma Hrvatskog proljec'a bio šefom “komunistic'ke inkvizicije”, tj. Ideološke komisije CK SKH, koja je proganjala hrvatske domoljube, podrugljivo ironiziralo “kumrovec'ku školu” i sasvim ozbiljno optuživalo ga da je “razoružao Hrvatsku”.

Te komunistic'ke hipoteke Rac'an se nije sasvim lišio ni nakon tzv. povijesnog sporazuma s negdašnjim politic'kim protivnikom Draženom Budišom. Propast “tres'esijec'anjske revolucije” obnovila je stare sumnje u iskrenost Rac'anova politic'kog i osobnog obras'enja, oživila zluradost pobornika tvrdnje: “jednom komunist, uvijek komunist”.

Ivica Rac'an možda i jest iskoristio politic'ku karizmu Dražena Budiše da preko nje dodje na vlast. Kao što je možda i s prijeratnog beogradskog Kongresa SKJ povukao komunistic'ku delegaciju Hrvatske, videc'i da su to uc'inili Slovenci. Da je htio ostati “vjernikom Partije”, Rac'an je mogao to i ne uc'initi. Da je bio partijski dogmat, sigurno ne bi raspisao prve hrvatske slobodne izbore. Generali JNA, partijski tvrdoglavci, glasnogovornici i pobornici reformiranja Jugoslavije po principu “jedan c'ovjek, jedan glas”, zadrti subnorovci i more unitarista sigurno bi mu pljeskali.

Nasuprot tome, za sve njih postao je politic'kim izdajnikom. Pogotovu za bulumentu takvih u Savezu komunista Hrvatske. Naum partijskih reformista – predvodjenih Rac'anom, Zdravkom Tomcem, Brankom Caratanom, Celestinom Sardelic'em, Dragom Dimitrovic'em... – da se krene u demokratizaciju SKH, dogmati su doc'ekali škrgutanjem zuba.

Politic'ki reformist
Tko je sve bio u SKH ubrzo se vidjelo kad su komunistic'ki bigoti uvrijedjeno i zauvijek napustili “kockicu”, jedni uvjeravajuc'i da su c'uvari komunistic'kog “zavjetnog kovc'ega”, dok su se drugi razmiljeli po Baniji, Slavoniji i Lici, a potom otišli “u šumu”.

Od šac'ice reformiranih komunista, ostalih nakon prvih višestranac'kih izbora, zasigurno je i Rac'anovom zaslugom nekoliko godina poslije nastala neosporno najjac'a stranka koalicije. Za mnoge je koalicijska pobjeda i “povratak komunista” bio šok. Velika i nerealna obec'anja manje se mogu pripisati Rac'anu nego nekim njegovim stranac'kim i koalicijskim kolegama.

C'ak i oni koji su Rac'ana sumnjic'ili za manjak patriotizma, optuživali ga da je “Oluju predao Haagu”, na koncu su mu nevoljko priznali da nikoga nije izrus'io Haagu. Da se Rac'an ponio kako su takvi pretkazivali, sigurno bi general Gotovina vec' odavna bio u Haagu, a u biografiji generala Bobetka taj bi nizozemski grad sigurno bio mjestom njegove smrti.

Zbog toga je trpio kritike svojih stranac'kih, koalicijskih i nestranac'kih ultrasa. Sve je to tolerantno otrpio. Kao i sve zlurade primjedbe zbog kasnijeg gubitka izbora, zbog “stalnog oklijevanja”, politic'kog opreza i “odluc'nog možda”.

KHODYNKA--In an echo from the old days, five players playing together on the same club team led the way for Russia. But on April 29, the team was not CSKA Moscow. The top unit from Ak Bars Kazan had six goals as Russia remained perfect in Group D after an 8-1 win over Ukraine.

Kazan's Alexei Morozov had three goals and three assists, and linemates Sergei Zinoviev and Danis Zaripov had five and three points, respectively. Defenseman Ilya Nikulin and Vitali Proshkin both had a goal each. Zaripov was the only member of the unit that did not score a goal.

"We felt really good tonight," said Morozov. "I felt we played together like a team, and that's important right from the start in a tournament like this. I'm not surprised by the amount of goals we've scored. We have a good group of guys, and we try to score as many goals as we can in order to win games."

With the win, Russia assured itself of a spot in the Qualifying Round, while Ukraine will have to fight to versus Denmark on Monday avoid the Relegation Round. Ukraine's goal differential of -12 is equal to Denmark's, but the Danes have scored three goals and Ukraine only one, which means that Ukraine will be forced to beat Denmark to qualify for the next round.

At first, Ukraine presented more of a challenge for the Russians than the Danes offered two days ago. Ukraine did a lot of things right in the first period. They got the lead from Sergii Klymentiev, played a self-sacrificing defensive style, and got good goaltending from Oleksandr Fedorov, but they just couldn't contain the technical superiority of their opponents and they faded as Russia came on.

Alexander Ovechkin became the first Russian to be penalized in the tournament when he was sent off for high-sticking at three minutes into the contest, and Ukraine made them pay immediately. At the four-minute mark, Klymentiev unleashed a low shot from the point that goaltender Alexander Eremenko maybe should have been able to stop, as there was no traffic in front of him.

The Russian team did not appear rattled by the early blow and kept on applying pressure, drawing penalties as the Ukrainians tried to keep the puck away from their net with any means available. On Russia's second power play of the night, Morozov tied the game with a neat wrist shot at 9:38, after a siege on the Ukrainian net had forced Fedorov to make several difficult stops.

Only minutes later with Russia on their third power play, sloppy Ukrainian coverage in front of their own net allowed Zinoviev to accept a pass from Morozov and put Russia in the lead with a high wrister.

Late in the first, Ukraine's Vitalii Donika grabbed the puck on a turnover and skated between two Russian defensemen to earn a breakaway after an incredible burst of speed, but his low glove hand side shot was stopped by Eremenko. The first period ended with the Ukrainians getting the better of the Russians for a short while, as they found passing lanes and ways to get shots on the Russian netminder.

The Russian did not relent in the second period. The Kazan unit made it 3-1 at 5:15 of the second period after a beautiful passing play between Zaripov and Zinoviev. Quick passes in and out of the slot made Ukrainian defenders turn their heads, losing sight of Ilya Nikulin as he skated in from the point, accepting a pass and firing the puck distinctly into the net.

"I've played together with [Zaripov and Zinoviev] for a long time," said Morozov. "I know them very well. We've all been together for two years."

At 12:01, Vitali Proshkin continued the dominance as he unleased a monster of a slap shot that made it 4-1 after the three Kazan forwards had cycled the puck down low for an entire shift.

With less than two minutes to go in the second, Klymentiev was sent to the box, and sure enough, the Kazan unit stepped out on the ice and scored once again. Morozov let a slapshot go from the left faceoff circle for a 5-1 score and his fourth point of the night.

In the third, Russia was awarded consecutive power plays, and almost six minutes into the final frame, Alexander Radulov became the first player outside the Kazan unit to score as he jammed home a rebound after an Ovechkin shot.

With a little more than eight minutes to go, it was Kazan time again. Morozov, Zaripov and Zinoviev raced in on a 3-on-2 and a nice passing play which included all three members of the line was finished off by Morozov, who got his third goal of the night. After the goal, Fedorov in the Ukrainian net had enough, and Igor Karpenko came in to play the final eight minutes.

With less than four minutes to go, Alexander Frolov made it 8-1 with Russia on the power play. The Ukrainians hung their heads, perhaps realizing how costly this goal could be as it dropped them to last place in Group D.

KHODYNKA--Special teams are a huge part of today's hockey, and Finland proved that by scoring three times with a two-man advantage, once on a 5-on-4, and once shorthanded en route to a 6-2 win over Denmark in Moscow on Sunday.

Star defenseman Petteri Nummelin led Finland with two goals. Ville Peltonen had a goal and two assists, and Mikko Koivu and Aki-Petteri Berg added singles, while Petri Kontiola chipped in three helpers. Jesper Damgaard and Christoffer Kjaergaard replied for the Danes.

"I'm really happy with the way the team played today, and it's always nice to score," said Nummelin.

Exhibiting positionally sound defense and getting physical when required (if sometimes unnecessarily chippy), the Finns were full value for the win. Their perfect record gives them six points in Group D heading into its May Day showdown with Russia, while the hapless Danes remain pointless.

"I think we played a decent game, but the Finns are devilishly good on the power play," said Damgaard. "They scored a couple of quick goals on the 5-on-3's, and that broke our backs. We can never afford that against a team like this."

With both goalies making their tournament debuts, Kari Lehtonen recorded 17 saves for the win, while Denmark's Michael Madsen had 38 stops.

"It was a weird game," said Lehtonen. "The skill difference was so high. These kinds of games can be difficult if you don't skate, but our guys showed up, so that made it easy for me. I can't remember when I last had a game like this, where I get one shot and then have to wait 10 minutes for another."

Madsen looked sharp in the early going, flashing his glove to foil Mikko Koivu's quick, high release from the slot and deftly blocking an Antti Miettinen blueline drive. But he couldn't prevent Nummelin from opening the score for Finland on the power play at 7:36, as the veteran rearguard coolly collected his own rebound after a long shot and cruised into position just above the hash marks before going high glove side. Seconds later, Niko Kapanen was allowed to walk in alone and Madsen sprawled to block both his attempts.

The Danes tied it 1-1 at 12:49 with a perfectly executed 5-on-3 power play, moving the puck precisely around their box before Damgaard hammered a low slapper past Lehtonen's glove. Then Madsen stopped Jarkko Ruutu on a partial breakaway before getting run over.

The Finns grabbed a 2-1 lead shorthanded when Mikko Koivu poked the puck off the boards past Frans Nielsen inside the Finnish blueline and sped down right wing before whipping a shot under the crossbar at 14:06. Nummelin increased Finland's lead to 3-1 during a two-man advantage with 1:12 left in the first period with another high wrister.

A sloppy Danish line change while shorthanded almost enabled Nummelin to complete his hat trick early in the second period, as Timo Parssinen flung a pass to the onrushing defenseman, but Madsen desperately flopped to foil him.

Finland made it 4-1, again enjoying a two-man advantage, as Ville Peltonen blasted a partially screened cannon from the slot over Madsen's right shoulder at 3:28 of the second period. Lehtonen kept his team's margin alive with some solid saves late in the second, including a nice glove grab with five minutes before the buzzer.

At 1:37 of the third, Kontiola dished a nice pass from behind the goal line to Aki-Petteri Berg, who was unguarded in front of the net and made no mistake to put Finland up 5-1. At 10:42, Niko Kapanen set up Jukka Hentunen for a one-timer goal from the slot to round out Finland's scoring. And with 5:17 left, Christoffer Kjaergaard tipped a Frans Nielsen pass parallel to the goal line through Lehtonen's pads to make it a 6-2 game.

Finland's Tuomo Ruutu and Mika Pyorala sat out versus Denmark, both suffering from a fever. Danish forward Peter Regin was kept out for precautionary reasons after incurring a knee injury in the opener against Russia, but he is expected to return versus Ukraine on May 1.

KHODYNKA--Despite getting an early lead, the Italians could not stage an upset versus the Swedes, as they lost 7-1 Saturday night in Moscow. With four goals in the first half of the second period, Sweden put the game out of reach.

Johan Davidsson and Fredrik Emwall both had two goals for the Swedes, and Per Hallberg, Jonathan Hedstrom and Tony Martensson also scored. Johan Backlund, making his IIHF World Championship debut in the nets, stopped 14 out of 15 shots.

"We had a hesitant start, but we worked ourselves into the game," said Davidsson. "After we scored our first goal, things just got rolling."

Sweden had 50 shots on Andrea Carpano in Italy's net.

The start of the game wasn't great for Sweden. With Martensson in the box, Italy got the first goal of the game at 3:22 when Giorgio de Bettin fired a one-timer from close range after a nice cross-crease pass from Stefano Margoni. The Swedes appeared rattled by this, and Rickard Wallin almost made it 2-0 for Italy when his effort to break up a Italian pass in front of Backlund almost trickled past the debutant netminder.

"The first reaction when they score is 'Oh [no]!', but it doesn't take long before you realize that it just shouldn't be possible to lose, and that we have the whole game ahead of us," said Davidsson.

With Tre Kronor on a long two-man advantage approaching the halfway mark of the first, the Swedish fans in the crowd surely expected their team to score, but the passing tempo was too low, and Italy's penalty killers had quite an easy time killing off the time.

The game kept on going in a slow pace and just as it looked like Italy had perfect control of the Swedish one-man attacks, Johan Davidsson fired a high wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle to make it 1-1 with less than five minutes to go in the first.

The goal appeared to spark the Swedes as Nicklas Backstrom drew a penalty when breaking towards goal the next shift. On the ensuing power play, Sweden scored again when Fredrik Emwall tipped Dick Tarnstrom's point shot for the 2-1 lead, which stood until the intermission.



Early in the second, Tony Martensson made it 3-1 with a nice shot that found the roof of the net from in close on Andrea Carpano in the Italian net. Five minutes into the period, it was 4-1 when Fredrik Bremberg finished off a nice passing play from Davidsson and Patric Hornqvist.

Italy's Head Coach, Mickey Goulet, called a 30-second timeout after the goal to regroup.It did not help. Minutes later, the same line combined to score the fifth goal as Davidsson banged home a rebound from a Hornqvist shot for his second of the night. Sweden started to look like the Russians when Hedstrom finished off a 2-man breakaway to make it 6-1 at 9:43.



After that goal, pressure subsided and the game was the low pace from the first period returned, interupted only by the occasional scoring chance for Tre Kronor, who could seeming create them at will. The seventh goal did not come until after the intermission, when Per Hallberg scored a power play goal with eight minutes to go.

The third period was largely uneventful as both team appeared content to play out time. Sweden's interest really dropped off, as they had fired 43 shots on net after the two first periods, but only managed seven more in the third.

La squadra di Ralph Krueger è riuscita a reagire al gol lettone, subito al 29 minuto, nonostante il predominio territoriale degli svizzeri. I ragazzi rossocrociati sono riusciti a riacciuffare il pareggio grazie al gol dello zurighese Wichser, che poi offrirà un assist perfetto al compagno del Lugano Jeannin per il 2 a 1.
La Svizzera torna sul ghiaccio lunedì alle 14.15 contro l'Italia.

21.04.07 WEST HAM-EVERTON

Un nostro caro amico, il 21.04 si trovava nella Perfida Albione e ha deciso d'andare a guardare una partita di campionato tra il West Ham e l'Everton.
Il fortunello è anche riuscito a vedersi incidenti nelle vicinanze dello stadio tra le mobs delle due squadre, rigorosamente all'aperto.
